The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA), hosted its Certificate Distribution Ceremony to recognise participants who successfully completed the 2025 Capacity Building Courses aimed at strengthening sport administration and governance across the national sporting landscape.

The ceremony which took place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium’s VIP Room last Saturday 31st January 2026, marked an important milestone in the TTOC/MSYA partnership, which continues to invest in the development of sport administrators, officials, especially coaches and volunteers through structured education and practical training programmes.

Proceedings commenced with the National Anthem and Opening Prayer, followed by Opening Remarks from Mrs. Knott, Secretary General of the TTOC, who underscored the importance of continuous education and professional development in building strong and sustainable sporting organisations.

Remarks were also delivered by Mr. Gabre Mc Tair, Director of Physical Education and Sport, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, who highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to capacity building and praised the graduates for their dedication to advancing sport at all levels.

The programme featured a cultural performance by panist Emmanuel Joseph, adding a celebratory and distinctly Trinidad and Tobago touch to the occasion.

The highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of certificates, recognising participants who successfully completed the various capacity building courses offered under the 2025 programme. These courses were designed to enhance governance, administration, leadership, and operational effectiveness within National Sporting Organisations and community sport structures.

Ms. Catherine Forde, Lead Facilitator of the Sport Administration Course, delivered the Closing Remarks, commending the graduates for their commitment and encouraging them to apply their knowledge in ways that positively impact their respective organisations and the wider sporting ecosystem.

Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago Officer for Sport Development, Marlon Saldenha, who also participated in the course, described the experience as invaluable.

“Being part of the Advanced Sport Management Course was a privilege—not only because of the wealth of knowledge shared by the outstanding facilitators across each module, but also because of the meaningful interactions among members of the various National Governing Bodies,” Saldenha said.

He added,

"The camaraderie experienced throughout the programme was next level. Personally, the opportunity to learn from and share experiences across a wide range of sports through direct, in-person engagement was truly unmatched.”

Saldenha further commended the organisers, stating,

"I applaud the TTOC and its partnership with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs for their continued commitment to sport development in Trinidad and Tobago. I would highly recommend this course to NGB Executive Members and to anyone with an interest in Sport Management.”

The TTOC and MSYA reaffirmed their shared commitment to building a skilled, knowledgeable, and empowered sport workforce, recognising that strong governance and administration are critical to athlete development, organisational sustainability, and national sporting success.

The programme forms part of the TTOC’s ongoing commitment to ensuring continuous improvement throughout the national sporting landscape. Through strategic partnerships, capacity-building initiatives, and targeted education programmes, the TTOC continues to strengthen governance, enhance leadership, and support the long-term development of sport at all levels.

These efforts reflect the organization’s dedication to equipping administrators, officials, and stakeholders with the tools and knowledge required to foster sustainable growth and excellence within Trinidad and Tobago sport.

The TTOC congratulates all graduates and looks forward to their continued commitment and contributions to sport development in Trinidad and Tobago.
